– 12TH NATIONAL CONTEST, WOOD AND FURNITURE PROJECTS, CITY OF IRUN –

by Pedro Álvarez Rudi | CIFP BIDASOA LHII

SUMMARY

This consists of organising a national project contest every year. The projects are then exchanged amongst all participating centres.

DESCRIPTION

This came about as one of the activities for the X NATIONAL WORKSHOPS FOR WOOD AND FURNITURE TEACHERS that we organised at Ficoba’s premises in our city, IRUN, in 2004.

This is a contest that PROMOTES AND INVIGORATES THE EXCHANGE OF ALL THE PROJECTS AMONGST PARTICIPATING CENTRES.

To date, 32 centres were impacted, taking part in the contest. They were from the following cities: Madrid, La Línea, Chiclana, Teruel, Almagro, Pamplona, San Sebastián, Badajoz, Hervás, Ponferrada, Vigo, Burgos, A Coruña, Arratzu, Cuenca, Yecla, Torrejón de Ardoz, Soria, Gijón, Solares, Castellón, Lugo, Nájera, Sabadell, Lucena, Alcoi, Salamanca, Valencia, Catarroja, Irún and Alcorisa.

We have plenty of documentation, ideas, specific IT programmes, applications and innovations that we will be able to analyse and add into our curriculums, once all the digital documentation generated by all the projects has been sent and analysed.

ENTREPRENEURIAL SELF-EVALUATION

This good practise is entrepreneurial, it helps us to rate ourselves with other Centres, observing improvements that we could take on as our own.

This all occurred over the course of the years because Department teachers got involved with new manufacture and design programmes, such as 3dStudio Max, AlphaCAM, Solidworks and Cadwork for structure projects, and Compass for stair designs, etc.

NEWNESS SELF-EVALUATION

To a large extent, one need only observe the standard of the participating projects and the challenge of following the path they set and undertake with innovative contributions, year after year.

Excellent presentations with a prior objective analysis, wonderful reports with detailed planimetry, as well as final PowerPoint and DVD presentations.

USEFULNESS/EFFECTIVENESS SELF-EVALUATION

The final result is creating teaching curriculum by projects.

Everything created in this good practise is SENT TO ALL PARTICIPATING CENTRES.
It involves teachers and students, since they participate in a nation-wide contest.

The result is initially participation and then the award, if won. Throughout the years, we have won a few.

SELF-EVALUATION OF RESULTS IN STUDENTS

Current student needs are demonstrating their competent ability in what they are, who they are, and their know-how.

Messages of support and thanks for the effort made at the organisation, year after year.

Giving self-esteem and confidence, to be oneself, to the student.
